No-exam life insurance

Accelerated underwriting details: which candidates qualify, the process, and what happens if you don't meet the criteria.

Today's insurers commonly use accelerated underwriting: people within specified ages and benefit sizes get a decision based on your answers, drug history, and driving record instead of a paramedical screening. Approvals sometimes arrive within hours. Every quote displays whether you'll need an exam, might need one, or won't need one for that specific product.

What it changes

Accelerated decisions don't skip the verification process. Your statements are checked, and policies issued on false information can be canceled within the first two years. Should the carrier's review surface issues, they may request an exam or blood work anyhow; you'll decide then whether to continue.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people under 60 or thereabouts who are buying within each company's fast-track limit, have no serious health problems, and haven't used tobacco in more than a year qualify. Should you have had a doctor's appointment with blood tests recently, some insurers will accept those results rather than requiring a new exam.

A test is usually conducted by a trained clinician who comes to your home or workplace in the Buena Park region, lasts 20–30 minutes, and costs you nothing. When results are good, many people actually get a better rate classification, so the exam isn't necessarily a downside.
