Medieval Times opened its Buena Park location at 7662 Beach Boulevard as part of a multinational entertainment company. The company originated in Spain and opened its first North American castle in Kissimmee, Florida in December 1983. Since then, Medieval Times has entertained more than 72 million guests across multiple locations, offering the same formula: a dinner service during a two-hour tournament featuring knights, horses, sword fights, and jousting performances.

The Buena Park castle seats hundreds for each performance, with four-course meals included in admission. Tickets range from general seating to premium packages with special perks. The venue also hosts birthday parties, corporate events, and group outings, functioning as both a tourist attraction and a local event space. A typical evening includes arrival, meal service, the tournament performance with live horses and choreographed combat, and entertainment designed for mixed-age audiences.

Entertainment venues like Medieval Times serve a particular role in family life: marking occasions, creating memories on special evenings, and anchoring the kinds of occasions that families plan around. The financial planning that protects those moments—ensuring that if something happens to a parent, the family can still afford the traditions and celebrations they've planned—is what a life insurance policy does.
